What will I be doing?

As a Systems Administrator Engineering & Operations, you will provide technical support for all physical, virtual and Cloud based systems in the HGVC server environment. As a part of the Operations group, this position will work and communicate effectively with systems engineers and developers on a routine basis to ensure production applications and/or systems meet stated service levels.

You will be responsible for driving company success through performing the following tasks to the highest standards:

  • Responsible for administration of HGV's Linux environment which currently consists of 150 servers running CentOS and Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) along with Linux instances in Azure
  • Manage Redis key-value databases
  • Provide enterprise search capabilities with Apache Solr
  • Provide platform support for Java and PHP development
  • Assist developers with the diagnosis and resolution of technical issues
  • Review and deploy code releases into production
  • Manage on-premises VMware resources
  • Maintain managed cloud resources in Hyper-V
  • Provision Azure cloud resources
  • Create ARM templates to automate the provisioning of cloud resources
  • Ensure high availability with F5 (LTM) load-balancing
  • Issue and manage SSL certificates
  • Manage server configurations with Spacewalk
  • Write shell scripts to automate routine tasks
  • Outstanding Linux/Unix administration skills and experience
  • Experience with IaaS/PaaS, ideally Azure
  • Scripting skills and a willingness to use Infrastructure-As-Code to implement modern configuration management (e.g. Ansible, Docker, Chef)
  • Experience designing, deploying and maintaining an enterprise monitoring/management platform
  • Experience analyzing user needs and software requirements to determine the feasibility of infrastructure initiatives within time and cost constraints
  • Expert knowledge in large scale server automation and automation tools
  • Strong expertise with Spacewalk, Satellite, Ansible or equivalent configuration management software
  • Strong expertise with protocols: DNS, HTTP, SNMP
  • Enforce and ensure group wide server workplace standards, and operating system and software standards defined by Corporate IT
  • Evaluate and implement global IT infrastructure components in alignment with the change delivery team
  • Ensure adequate level of PCI, SOX PII compliance as per organization guidelines
  • IT project assistance/support, change assistance/support and implementation as per Corporate IT
  • Work with service desk to ensure quality standards and availability as per Corporate IT
  • Ensure problem management and continuous optimization of IT infrastructure related services
  • Flexibility with work shift - after hour support and on call schedule

  • Strong Configure Apache HTTP, NGINX and Tomcat servers
  • 5 -7 years demonstrated ability in systems administration, and working in a multi-site IT infrastructure environment
  • Extensive knowledge of Red Hat enterprise solutions and best practices
  • Minimum 2 years experience working with VMware ESX and Microsoft Hyper-V
  • Azure Cloud Experience preferred
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to effectively organize, multitask, and work in a fast-paced driven work environment
  • Ability to communicate in a proactive and solution-focused manner, including keeping management aware of potential issues.
  • Detail oriented with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve problems
  • Ability to work independently and manage one's time
  • Communicate effectively and ability to function well in a team environment
  • Knowledge of ITIL
