This role is Night Shit - 12:00a.m to 9:00 p.m.

Position Summary

We are looking for a passionate Virtualization Engineer who has a strong quantitative background for infrastructure tasks including provisioning hypervisors, connectivity issues, upgrades, and day-to-day issues and audits. Designs, builds, administers, maintains, and troubleshoots complex VMware environments. Ensures utilization of proper change management procedures regarding the installation and testing of all upgrades and enhancements for VMware infrastructure.
 
Responsibilities
·       Works appropriate level tickets in queue.
·       Monitors and provides maintenance for all related infrastructure.
·       Works with vendors to resolve hardware and software issues.
·       Gathers data for capacity planning and performance analysis of infrastructure.
·       Develops projects to improve performance, efficiency, experience, capacity, etc. of environments.
·       Acts as the primary interface for the client or project manager for basic to intermediate projects.
·       Implements large, complex enterprise-class solutions using Citrix, Microsoft, and VMware technologies.
·       Ensures the control, integrity, and accessibility of the VMware environment for the enterprise.
·       Performs regular checks of system components for errors and application of necessary corrective action.
·       Meet pre-agreed personal and team targets, based around volume and quality of work (to include but not limited to issue ownership, infrastructure volume, and hours logged)
·       Work to an agreed standard, to ensure we minimize infrastructure downtime and credit memos
·       Demonstrate technical savvy to drive Rackspace Private Cloud Strategy
 
 
Knowledge
·       Intermediate working knowledge of Microsoft platforms and technologies including: IIS and SQL Server.
·       Intermediate operating systems knowledge (Windows and Linux).
·       General network administration skills.
·       Working knowledge of fibre channel SANS, NFS, and ISCSI.
 
Requirements
·       Bachelor’s Degree in systems.
·       3+ years of experience related of technical experience in systems engineering or administration including experience in various virtualization systems.
·       The following certifications preferred: CCIA, CCEE, CCEA, CCA, VCP, MCSE/MCITP.
